Recreation

A few million years ago, the last of the towering glaciers melted in the WestGate region, leaving behind thousands of acres of beautiful and unique countryside. Martin County, where NSWC Crane is located, offers up some of the most interesting geologic formations and hiking trails in the Midwest. Daviess County is home to outstanding recreation for the outdoor enthusiast, including terrific fishing and hunting, golf courses and much more. Greene County serves up plenty of outdoor activities, with two gorgeous state parks and wildlife areas, plus the nationally known Goose Pond where multiple thousands of sandhill cranes, bald eagles and other birds live or migrate through each year.

If world-class classical music, opera and ballet is your preference, nearby Indiana University is host to top-ranked performers year-round.
