Growing the Region

An all-new facility for EG&G (a subsidiary of the $5.4 billion urs corporation) is complete, and SAIC, the nations seventh largest efense contractor, moved operations into the park in 2008. In it's first phase, the WestGate will offer about 100,000 sq. ft. of new mixed-use facilities to serve major and local defense companies. To date about $11 million in private equity has been invested by the WestGate @ Crane Ddevelopment Co. in the park, with an additional 10 million in the next 12 months.

What does the future for the WestGate possibly hold? According to Indiana Lt. Governor Becky Skillman: The WestGate represents a strategic opportunity for the creation of high-impact jobs and regional growth for south central and southwest Indiana.

The park's potential to spur broad economic development across the region is an asset to the growth of Indiana's defense industry. Growth in the park today continues to quickly progress as WestGate Development Co., the company spearheading development efforts in the Technology Park, has finished or is currently constructing new tenant space in the park including specialty built-to-suit facilities. Additionally, the WestGate authority regional governing body for the Technology Park continues to provide oversight and fund the marketing and promotion of the WestGate. Throughout the next 12-24 months, plans exist for building 120-150,000 sq. ft. of new construction.

Several major commercial defense companies have either already located in the park, or have signed lease agreements and are awaiting the completion of construction. Current WestGate defense contractors include:

EG&G EG&G, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $5.4 billion urs corporation (NYSE: URS), occupies an all-new technology facility in the WestGate Park. The 25,000 sq. ft. facility was designed to be expanded to 40,000 sq. ft. and will initially house 50 employees.
